Intense lobbying in NPP for running mate position

There are reports of intense lobbying by some Ashanti members of the party for the position of running mate to Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia. The party has already indicated that its running mate for 2024 will emerge from the Ashanti Region.
Sources in the party indicate that personalities such as Matthew Opoku Prempeh, Dr. Yaw Adutwum, Kyei Mensah Bonsu and Frema Opare are all trying to assert dominance and influence in the race to partner Dr Bawunia fir the 2024 election.
There had been indications that the party was interested in selecting a respected member of the clergy after assessments revealed that a very respected Christian leader will address some concerns of many Christian voters who may be wary of endorsing a Muslim candidate.
Apostle Profession Opoku Onyinah a former Chairman of the Church of Pentecost has been touted as a possible choice but the receptiveness of the Church of Pentecost to such a move is not so clear.
