John Kumah’s mother and wife disagree over cause of death?
Apostle Lilian Kumah, wife of Dr. John Kumah, the late NPP MP for Ejisu in the Ashanti Region, who was also Deputy Minister of Finance seem to disagree with the late MP’s mother over the cause of death of the deceased MP.
While a statement reportedly made to the police by the wife of the late MP cautioned against the misinformation being peddled by Captain Smart who claims the late MP was poisoned, the mother in a report on Myjoyonline called for an autopsy to help ascertain the cause of death.
According to the Myjoyonline report, in an interview, the late MP’s mother repeatedly pointed to suspicion of poisoning and demanded an autopsy to ascertain the real cause of death. The report said, she wondered why anyone would wish such an end for her son, and stressed, amid wailing, that the family’s backbone has been destroyed.
But a report by Asaase Radio stated that on Friday, 8 March, 2024, the wife of Dr Kumah, “bravely stepped into the somber halls of the Accra Central Police Headquarters to lodge a heart-wrenching complaint against Captain Smart, a radio and TV presenter with Media General for callously insinuating that her beloved husband died of poisoning”.
The Asaase Redio report stated that “with tears welling in her eyes and her voice trembling with anguish, she beseeched the Ghana Police Service to initiate investigations into the statements made by the journalist and to question him regarding the basis of his claims to bring an end to this unfathomable misinformation and injustice”.
The late MP’s death has been a subject of controversy following allegations by some persons including Broadcast journalist, Captain Smart of Onua TV and Oheneba Nana Asiedu, an aide to Chairman Wontumi, Ashanti Regional Chairman of the Party that the late MP was deliberately poisioned.
Captain Smart has been vociferous with his allegation of poisoning, which were first made about two weeks before the death of Dr. Kumah, allegations he re-echoed following the death of the MP.
In a blistering presentation on Wontumi FM, Oheneba Nana Asiedu, aide to Chairman Wontumi was also emphatic with his claim that both his boss and Dr. Kumah were poisoned through a meal they took in Tamale last year October during a campaign tour with the Vice President in the Region.
