Sign Anti LGBTQ+ into law or risk losing votes, Catholic Bishop Conference threatens
The Catholic Bishop Conference has cautioned the President against refusing to sign the Anti LGBTQI+ Bill recently passed by Parliament as that would cost the NPP dearly in the 2024 votes.
The Secretary-General of the Conference, Very Rev Fr Clement Kwasi Adjei, warned that any attempt by the president to reject the Bill in its entirety will not be entertained by Christians.
Speaking on Joy News, Very Rev Fr Clement Kwasi Adjei said, the Conference was delighted about the passage of the Bill and
“We will speak and we will continue to keep speaking against what we think is wrong. If the President refuses to sign, and you know the implication for him and his party. I’m referring to elections, voting… these things must not be hidden. We work in the villages, people are listening,” he told Joy News, Evans Mensah, yesterday.
He said concerns about custodial sentencing of convicted offenders could be revisited and reviewed but a wholesale rejection of the Bill would simply not be accepted.
