Jordan deserves to be captain – Songo

Sports journalist, Patrick Osei-Agyeman, popularly referred to as Countryman Songo says Jordan Ayew deserves to be the captain of the Black Stars in the absence of his senior brother, Andre Dede Ayew.

In a tirade on Adom TV after the Stars tense game against the Central Africa Republic, Songo said, Thomas Partey who has been named captain following the axing of Dede from the squad by Coach Otto Addo, has not lived up to his billing.

“Jordan is currently the best player of the Black Stars, and if we want to be truthful, then he should be the captain of the squad,” he lashed out.

“I don’t see anything special about Thomas Partey that should earn him the captainship. He has failed to turn up for the Stars, and even against Central Africa Republic he failed to deliver. Central Africa Republic bossed the midfield and Partey was nowhere to be found.

Songo also expressed reservations on choice of Ati Zigi as the team’s first choice goalie indicating that the country had better goalkeepers who can man the posts of the Black Stars. “Otto Addo has to be serious…Razak Abalora is better; even Kotoko’s goalkeeper, Fred Asare is a better goalkeeper,” he fumed.
