All Regional Games postponed to make event more impactful-Gyan

Asamoah Gyan has announced the postponement of the the All Regional Games, originally set to begin this year, to 2025.
In a statement, Gyan noted that the postponement will allow them “to build an even bigger and more impactful event.”
The event commenced in July 2024 and trials had already started to choose the finest athletes.Each region was charged with conducting trials to identify their top sport persons. Athletes aged 18 to 23 were selected and set to compete against competitors from other regions.
The competition would include nine sports disciplines: football, athletics, volleyball, basketball, tennis, table tennis, boxing, e-sports, and arm wrestling.
“To our registered athletes, rest assured that your data remains secure, and you will be given priority for the 2025 edition. New athletes will also be welcomed, with the same rigorous regional trials in place to ensure fair selection and representation’ ,the statement added.
The new date for next year’s event is expected to be announced soon.
The All African Games dedicated to its mission of ‘identifying and developing athletes who can proudly represent Ghana on the international stage’, indicates the former captain’s non -partisan vision of nurturing young talents in Ghana together with other humanitarian initiatives by the Asamoah Gyan foundation and Moah Green foundation.
In a statement released on 11th September, Gyan denounced his affiliation with the National Patriotic Party.
‘This is not about politics, i am fully independent from any political influences’ he indicated.
Together with the statement, Asamoah Gyan posted on X that his actions have not been fair to the Ghanaian youth.
“I haven’t been fair to the youth and the people of Ghana. Henceforth I am not affiliated to any political party. I will continue with my humanitarian work and help the youth of Ghana in my own small way’ Gyan added.
Gyan had initially aligned with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the All Regional Games, having been appointed chairman of the Youth and Sports sub-committee for the party’s manifesto team in February.
