EC destroys defective ballot papers
The Electoral Commission (EC) has destroyed defective ballot papers that were intended for the for the Ahafo and Volta Regions following the discovery of serialization errors.
The destruction took place in the presence of representatives of the political parties with the police providing strict supervision.
The ballot papers were declared defective after the Electoral Commission detected some defects in the serial numbers.
The NDC had claimed to have drawn attention to the defects but the EC dismissed those claims and stated that its quality control systems put in place detected the defects in the serial numbers of the ballot after that was as a result of a manual system employed by the printers following the failure of an automated system to do the serialisation.
The EC has meanwhile contracted Buck Press and Acts Commercials to handle the reprinting of new, ballot papers for the two regions and assured that the new arrangement would not derail preparations for the polls in the two regions.
