Election polls: Prof. Sarpong’s report is a ‘Chop Bar’ analysis, he’s not “Smart” – NDC
The Deputy Director of Elections and IT for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr Rashid Tanko-Computer has described the recent polls conducted by Prof. Smart Sarpong as a “Chop Bar Analysis”, adding that the researcher is not “smart.”
Speaking to GHOne TV ‘News Tonight’ program on Thursday, the NDC IT guru explained that the NPP cannot beat the NDC with parliamentary seats in the upcoming elections. He added that, in 2020, the NPP had to snatch ballot papers to win 5 more seats to get 137 members on their side.
“That guy is not smart, he’s not smart, he should change his name,” he said.
A few weeks before the December 7, elections, a new poll emerged putting the NPP’s flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the lead. Per the Endline Report on all 276 constituencies by Prof. Smart Sarpong of the Kumasi Technical University, released on November 21, 2024, Dr. Bawumia obtained 49.1% followed by the NDC’s John Mahama with 45.8% while Nana Kwame Bediako obtained 2.2% with Alan securing 1.2% of the votes.
Dr. Tanko, rubbishing the polls, noted that Smart’s report is not anything to scare the NDC, but a mere ‘chop bar’ research.
“What do you want us to do with this chop bar analysis? It is chop bar analysis…” he said.
He also tagged the pollster as an NPP foot-soldier, and the research respondents as NPP supporters.
“Look, the man was speaking to NPP supporters, he is an NPP man. We know him. He is the NPP patron in the school, this is not his first time, we unmasked him….” Computer added, rubbishing the poll.
