Ghana Police Intercept 88 Suspects on Buses in Western North—Investigation Underway

The Ghana Police Service has started investigating 88 people who were intercepted on two Metro Mass Transit buses near Benchema, near Asawinso in the Western North Region, on December 3, 2024.
According to a police statement, the individuals were allegedly recruited by a man known as “Sammy” from areas like Adenta, Oyarifa, and Madina in the Greater Accra Region. They were reportedly being transported to provide security at polling stations in some Western North constituencies.
Currently, the suspects are in custody, cooperating with authorities. The Police are working to locate Sammy, who is believed to be behind the operation.
Authorities urge the public to remain calm as the investigation continues, promising to ensure transparency and maintain law and order ahead of the upcoming electoral processes.
