The Director of Research and Elections for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Evans Nimako, has refuted the concerns raised by the NDC’s Deputy Director of Elections and IT, Dr. Rashid Tanko-Computer, regarding the Ashanti Regional Electoral Commission (EC) Director.

Nimako labeled the NDC’s claims as exaggerated and baseless.

Addressing Dr. Tanko’s allegations that the Ashanti Regional EC Director violated electoral laws by withholding validation stamp numbers from party agents and preventing the NDC from placing seals on ballot boxes, Nimako accused the NDC of stirring unnecessary tension.

“I’ve heard Dr. Tanko Dr. Tanko running around too many times over this minor issue. The real problem within the NDC lies with Dr. Rashid Tanko-Computer and Dr. Omane Boamah,” Nimako stated.

He emphasized that the provisions of CI 127 are still being properly implemented.

“Sealing ballot boxes occurs at various stages from the printing houses in Accra to regional and district levels. If Tanko-Computer’s agents missed sealing at one stage, they should simply rectify it at another,” he explained.

Nimako further noted that electoral concerns are typically addressed at the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) level and do not warrant the intense attention Dr. Tanko has drawn to them.

“Simple issues that are resolved at the IPAC level, they present them as if heavens must break loose” he added.
