Mole National Park needs more investment

The Minister Designate for Tourism, Culture and Creative arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, has pledged to pay more attention tourist sites like that Mole National Park located in the Savannah Region.

According to her, the model for the Blackstar Experience will empowered district, municipal and metropolitan assemblies to embark on arts, tourism and cultural projects.

In tandem with this, she believes with the right investments in place, tourist sites like that Mole National Park will receive a facelift.

“I agree with you that Mole for years has been one of the sites that is usually visited. What they probably need is more investment and it is an area where our country needs to focus more on to give more to the sector to we can bring in the required resources. I will be pushing the agenda for that,” she said.

Abla made this statement when she appeared before the Appointments Committee of Parliament for her vetting on Wednesday, January 22, 2025.

Abla Dzifa Gomashie is a celebrated actress, film producer, scriptwriter, a Member of Parliament for Ketu South Constituency, and a Queen Mother in the Aflao Traditional area.

Between 1994 and 1998, she earned a Diploma in Theatre Arts from University of Ghana, transitioned to a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a First-Class Honors from the School of Performing Arts between 2000 and 2003.

She holds a Master of Philosophy in African Studies between 2005 and 2008 from the University.

She brought her wealth of experience in the industry to the appointment both within Ghana and internationally. She is a member and rapporteur of the ECOWAS committee for the Reparation of Stolen Artefacts of Africa.

She was also instrumental in the formation of the Creative Arts Council (now Creative Arts Agency), a body that is supposed to regulate and coordinate the activities of the culture and creatives industries made up of thirteen sub-fields.

Her commitment to industry

In the meantime, Dzifa has pledged to do her utmost best to justify the confidence reposed in her by the president and the people of Ghana.

In a post on Facebook following her nomination, she assured her supporters and industry stakeholders of her commitment to advancing the sector.

“I promise to do my best to justify your faith in me,” she wrote.

“I entreat you to continue to support, as well as bring forth ideas to help promote and preserve our rich cultural heritage, improve our tourism industry and showcase our creativity for the development of the sector.”

The Member of Parliament for Ketu South also expressed deep gratitude for the honour bestowed upon her, acknowledging the trust placed in her by President John Mahama, the Vice President, and the party’s leadership.

She also extended appreciation to all who sent messages of congratulations and encouragement.
