NDC fires ballot position warning to EC
The National Democratic Congress has cautioned the Electoral Commission against what it described as “automatic rearrangement” of positions on the ballot paper stressing that it will resist that.
According to the Director of Elections of the Party, Dr. Omane Boamah, the party will reject the No. 7 position on the ballot paper if the EC decides to automatically rearrange the positions on the ballot paper.
The Electoral Commission in a statement yesterday indicated that it has suspended printing of ballot papers and re-opened nominations for the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP) to nominate a candidate following the death of its presidential candidate.
There are no indications as to whether the GFP will nominate another person to be its flagbearer, but already reference to a statement made by the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP, Chairman Wontumi, threatening to send NDC to the 7th or 6th position on the ballot paper.
However, Director of Elections of the NDC, Dr. Omane Boamah in a sharp riposte to those assertions said in a Facebook post that “We shall not accept automatic re-arrangement of positions on the ballot. Just note it and keep it holy”.
