Former President and NDC Presidential Candidate, John Mahama has visited the Manhyia Palace to seek the blessings of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II in the upcoming elections.
“My father, my adviser, my everything, I am very happy to be here to pay my respect and seek your blessings for the battle ahead,” John Mahama told the Asantehene.
The former president said, he although he was enjoying his retirement, his party felt he was the best person to wrestle power from the NPP and that was why he had returned to lead the party.
Mahama bemoaned what he described as the neglect of the Ashanti Region by the NPP and recounted some of the landmark projects the NDC had embarked on for the Ashanti Region.
He said projects such as the Sewua Hospital, Afari Military Hospital, Kejetia Market were testimony of the commitment of the NDC to the region.
He criticized the NPP for the politicization of the projects and wondered why some of the projects had been abandoned citing the Kejetia Phase II Project.
He assured Otumfuo and Asanteman that if elected to power, the NDC would continue with projects started by the NPP and not allow the taxpayers money to go waste.
