We will win the elections because of our good work – Bawumia
The Flagbearer of the NPP, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia says the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will coast to victory in tomorrow’s elections based on the record of the party.
“We will win the presidential elections and we will win the parliamentary majority because of the good work we have done,” he said at the final rally organized by the party at Legon in Accra.
“The reason why we are going to win this election is because of the work that we have done, the achievements of this government and our vision going forward. My opponents represent the past and I represent the future of this counry,” he said to rapturous applause, adding that voters have to decide whether they want to go forward or to go back.
Dr. Bawumia said the work the NPP government had done was underpinned by a mindset of possibilities, stressing that they believe that it was possible to transform the country to an advanced country. “We believe in possibilities and a mindset of possibilities,” he stressed.
He said, in eight years, Mahama did not implement any policy. “What did he implement, was it Dumsor or the guinea fowl,” he quizzed.
He said the NPP was a problem-solving party; “We have been solving problems. When we came to power and we noticed that Ghanaians could not afford fees, we introduced free SHS,” he stated.
He said due to carefully crafted policies, the NPP had also increased enrolment of girls in SHSs to the point that there were now more girls than boys in SHSs.
He added that Ghana ranks second on the entire continent in terms of quality education in the whole of the African continent after Tunisia.
He said the NPP government had invested significantly in education and healthcare, with the president commencing the commissioning of Agenda 111 hospitals.
“There is no government that has invested in health infrastructure than the Akufo Addo government…we had major problems in the NHIS and diseases such as childhood cancers are now covered and since December 1 Ghana is now providing free kidney dialysis under the NHIS,” he stated.
