Hold me accountable – Prophet Elbernard

Heading (3)

Prophet Bernard Elbernard Nelson-Eshun has expressed his intention to stay away from the pulpit for several weeks following the failure of his prophecy on the just-ended NPP primary, as he urged members to hold him accountable.

In a humble but rallying tone, Prophet Elbernard, who has been under some intense criticism and trolling following the failure of his prophecy, urged members of his church to hold him to the standards of integrity and accountability.

“I am not the type of pastor who needs encouragement because I am already an encouragement. I need you as a member of this family to hold me up to integrity and to whatever I say the Lord said; I need you to hold me up to that realm of accountability,” he told his church members, who responded with enthusiastic cheers.

Many Ghanaians, including politicians, pastors, and members of the general public, have expressed support for the under-fire prophet.

Prophet Elbernard had predicted a one-touch victory for former MP for Assin Central, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, but the odds stacked greatly against him when Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia secured the nod with more than 56 percent of the votes to beat Ken who had less than 24 percent of the votes.

Prophet Elbernard promptly issued two statements on Saturday, January 31, 2026: an apology for the failed prophecy and an accountability statement announcing a time off the pulpit as he seeks a period of reflection.

And on Sunday, February 1, 2026, at his Church, Spiritlife Revival Ministries, he reiterated his decision to stay away from the pulpit for “several weeks” in accordance with his principles.

“In my book of prophecy, in Chapter 16…the title is ‘When Prophets Miss It’, I outlined what must happen and what must be done when a prophet misses a prophetic word. For now, I have submitted to the writings in this book…I have released two statements; one is the statement and apology, the number two is the statement of accountability…for now…I need you to look at the words I am using. Because I hold myself accountable, everything I wanted to tell you is in that statement…

“I want you to understand that I am still here. I am not going to ask you to stay here neither I am asking you to leave, but in the spirit of humility and accountability, I have told you what I will do for now. I will be back. There are so many things to say, but at the right time, I will say what must be said. For several weeks, I will not be preaching, even though I will be in service no matter what happens to you. There are things you should never lose…never lose God…and never lose yourself.

In his apology statement, Prophet Elbernard expressed deep remorse and asked for forgiveness.

“I missed it. I was wrong. I am deeply sorry, and I ask for your forgiveness. Because I spoke publicly with prophetic authority, many people trusted my word, and some were affected emotionally, spiritually, and politically. I acknowledge this with humility.

“I take full responsibility for this prophetic word. I sincerely apologize to everyone who trusted my word and was hurt, disappointed, or negatively impacted in any way. I am especially sorry to those who made decisions based on what I declared,” he stated.

In his accountability statement, he said, the decision to stay away from the pulpit was “a deliberate and voluntary step to allow for reflection, prayer, counsel, and the strengthening of accountability in how prophetic revelations are received, interpreted, and communicated”.

“I am not stepping away from my calling or from ministry altogether. I remain committed to personal prayer, study, and quiet pastoral responsibility, while intentionally realigning myself in growth, integrity, and discernment,” he added.

Meanwhile, there have been some outpourings of support for Prophet Elbernard

Prophet Kofi Oduro expressed words of support during a sermon and described Prophet Elbernard as a true man of God. He urged Ghanaians to stop deriding him.

Apostle Nkum, whom Prophet Elbernard had described as a spiritual father, also wrote:

“My dearest son @prophetbernardelbernard, you are a definition of a TRUE Prophet.

The record of the office you occupy is very RARE for people to comprehend. Your confidence in speaking the mind of God is what people cannot understand. You spoke with audacity and tenacity because I know you saw what you saw in the Spirit. No man of God can put his reputation in front of a whole nation if he didn’t see anything. No man.

I love your confidence in the word you received. I believe in the God that spoke to you. I believe in you and your ministry. You are God’s PROPHETIC VOICE to the nations.

Whatever went wrong spiritually doesn’t change anything. Get ready for a season of refining. A season of speed. A season where Jesus will take you into a different dimension in the realms of the SPIRIT.

I AM APOSTLE EMMANUEL NKUM AND I STAND WITH MY DEAREST SON

Bishop Victor Osei posted on Facebook as follows: “If I can post you in a good season because I believe in you, I can choose to post you this day to affirm you are a servant of God. ALL IS WELL”.

Apostle Francis Amoako Atta urged his congregants to pray for Prophet Elbernard, declaring that his “coming back will be greater than his setback”. “May the Lord put your enemies to shame…” he stated as he prayed for Prophet Elbernard.

MP for Mpraeso, Davis Opoku, popularly referred to as OPK, expressed affirmation that the failure of the prophecy did not imply that Prophet Elbernard was not of God.

In a Facebook post, OPK stated:

“In public life, people often judge spiritual voices by a single event. Scripture teaches us that prophecy is not always a fixed sentence. It is often a divine dialogue with human response.

When Prophet Bernard ElBernard Nelson-Eshun first told me I would contest the parliamentary seat for Mpraeso Constituency, I had not even taken that decision myself. He spoke into a future I had not yet seen. That kind of insight goes beyond guesswork. It speaks to calling and purpose.

Today, some point to a political primary and use that moment to question his credibility. But the Bible offers us deeper understanding.

Jonah declared judgment upon Nineveh. The destruction did not happen. Was he false? No. The people changed, and the outcome changed.

Prophet Isaiah told King Hezekiah to prepare for death. He prayed. God extended his life by fifteen years. The word shifted because the heart shifted.

Prophecy can reveal God’s intent or a possible future. But in politics, leadership, and human choice, many forces are at play. A different outcome in a primary election does not erase accurate insight into a person’s destiny. I am living proof of the things he spoke over my life that later unfolded.

Let us be careful not to reduce spiritual matters to electoral mathematics. A ballot box measures votes. It does not measure spiritual purpose.”
