Trump shot in ear as gunman kills one at rally

Former US President and Republican Party Presidential Candidate for the upcoming US polls was shot at a politically rally last night but escaped death.

The business tycoon who is seeking re-election as US president having lost in 2020 to President Joe Biden said he had been shot in the ear describing a “whizzing sound” and felt a bullet “ripping through his skin”,

One attendee at the political rally organised by the Republican Party in Butler a city in Pennsyvania, has been reported dead with two others said to be in critical condition. The gunman was shot dead by secret service agents.

An eye witness said, they saw a man crawl on a roof nearby with a rifle moments before the shots rang, and informed the police. Secret service agents immediately swarmed over him to protect him as he went down. When he stood up, there was evidence of injury with blood on the right side of his face. A defiant Trump raised up a fisted hand as secret service agents held him close.

The FBI has described the attack as an assassination attempt and indicated that a male attacker has been tentatively identified with his name set to be released soon.

The Republican Party said, Trump was fine and Pennsylvania Governor, Josh Shapiro later posted on X that Trump had left the area under the protection of the Secret Service.

US President, Joe Biden immediately condemned the shooting and said he was trying to get in touch his political rival: “There’s no place in America for this kind of violence. It’s sick, it’s sick. We cannot allow for this to be happening. We cannot be like this. We cannot condone this,” Biden said. Former US Presidents, Barack Obama, Bill Clinton and George Bush have also all condemned the shooting.
